Schools require robust security systems to prevent security threats and ensure the safety of students inside school premises.
FREMONT, CA: School security is a big challenge for K-12 educators. Attacks targeting schools are rising nationwide, and educators have more responsibilities than just educating students. Their primary responsibility is to keep students safe during the school day. Many educators need to gain experience to handle this new set of responsibilities. Every parent cares about the safety of their children. Security experts can offer advice and solutions to help protect young students.
Challenges of providing school security
There are many security challenges that K-12 educators face today, including:
School-targeted attacks: The prevention of school shootings should be one of the government's top priorities. To meet this challenge, you must choose solutions designed by professionals who know how to identify weak points that school shooters may exploit, utilize the newest and most effective technology and ensure that the equipment throughout campus is integrated and operating properly.
Child pick-up authorization: The school is responsible for ensuring that only authorized adults pick up children from school.
Student violence: Students are often required to be protected from violence committed by other students. According to the National School Boards Association, there are nearly 10,000 violent assaults at schools every year. Students need a reliable security network and up to date so that staff can monitor any potential problems.
Inconsistent existing equipment installations: A school is a mix of older and newer buildings, all of which must be protected by the same security infrastructure, which is the same across the board. An engineer with a high level of certification and knowledge is needed to install a system of this nature.
A lack of information: There needs to be a security professional on staff in many K-12 schools, which is very common. A lack of knowledge may prevent them from not only installing the systems but also from knowing what functionalities are needed, what new technology is available, and when something needs to be fixed with the system.
